tretford tiles are more suitable for use over access flooring

QUESTION

Can be used over Access Flooring?

ANSWER

tiles are more suitable for use over access flooring than broadloom, which would limit access.

Access flooring is made up of galvanised sheet over a chipboard base.

F3 as a water-based adhesive recommended for use with broadloom can cause rust in galvanised material should the galvanised material become damaged in any way. In addition galvanised steel is an impervious surface and as such problems with excessive moisture and glue migration are very likely.

If you need to lay onto access flooring, an overlay of plywood should be mechanically fixed to the access flooring as a base for the carpet – adhering with F3.

tiles are therefore the best option installed by direct stick with F-41 tackifier - a solvent free adhesive with rust inhibitor suitable for use on galvanized steel.
